Authorities probe failed NASA rocket blast, ISS resupplied

New Delhi: NASA authorities along with the Orbital Sciences Corp. on Thursday started investigating the reasons behind unmanned NASA rocket explode.
An unmanned NASA rocket exploded shortly after take-off from Virginia on Tuesday evening.
While no one was hurt, witnesses said the explosion looked like a "ball of fire" and shook buildings for miles.
As per initial assessment of the mishap by NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility Incident Response Team, it will take many more weeks to further understand and analyze the full extent of the effects from the explode.

The 14-storey rocket, built and launched by Orbital Sciences Corp, carried a Cygnus spacecraft which was on a mission to supply some classified cryptographic equipment to the International Space Station (ISS).
Virginia-based Orbital Sciences is one of two companies hired by NASA to fly cargo to the station after the space shuttles retired. Tuesday`s planned flight was to be the third of eight under the company`s $1.9 billion contract with NASA.
Meanwhile, Russia's robotic Progress 57 vehicle carrying the necessary supplies was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan hours after the unmanned NASA rocket exploded. It has docked successfully to the International Space Station (ISS) at 9:08 am EDT (1308 GMT).
