The first week of November means everything from the first report card to the first full week of basketball, but we can't forget about the big one - the return of NFL mock drafts. Well, maybe, not, because everyone and their grandmother has been doing mock drafts since the 2014 NFL Draft ended; the first week of November is when I put up my first mock draft! It's always fun to look at the NFL teams and mock who could end up where, who could be the savior for a franchise like Oakland or the New York Jets.
Last year, I did five mock drafts, including getting a fair amount of picks right in my final one (I'm cheating though, because I'm counting the fact I nailed players to certain teams and in certain spots, like Manziel still going to Cleveland). I don't know if I'll do five this year, but I can promise there will be at least three - this one, the one in January, and one the day of the draft.
There are a couple things that I need to stress about this list, the first being that we know nothing at this time. For all we now, Jameis Winston could go back to school for next year, but someone not on this list who declares early for the draft could move into the first round. I've always been a fan of doing my first mock draft around the first week of November because I feel that by then, we have a good idea of where these players might go if they all declared. When I do the second mock draft in the middle of January, we'll have a much better of draft order, not to mention who's declaring. That's also when I start to mix a bit of analysis into it, because I can pull up regular season stats, bowl games, why they'd be a fit at that location, etc.
And look, this is done on realism and my own opinion. If you think Jameis Winston is a top five pick, fine. I personally think he will go anywhere from picks 16-32 in part for his maturity issues, and I don't think he's going to end up a Jet unless they trade back in.
So, without further waiting, let's dive into the first mock draft for the 2015 NFL Draft!
