'I am so excited to marry my best friend': Duck Dynasty's John Luke Robertson gets engaged to his girlfriend on 19th birthday

John Luke Robertson has got engaged to his girlfriend, Mary Kate McEacharn.

The Duck Dynasty star popped the question on his 19th birthday – Saturday, October 11 – and the couple took to Instagram shortly afterward to share the happy news.

John Luke also released a statement, telling Us Weekly: 'I am so excited to marry my best friend.'

He cited his parents, Willie and Korie Robertson, as having set an example of a relationship he aspires to. 

‘I know my parents married young as well, and they have always been examples of what "could be" to me.

‘Fast-forward 22 years and they are more in love than ever, and I hope Mary Kate and I are the same way in the years to come. God has truly blessed us.’

John Luke Instagrammed a photo holding a sign pointing to his future wife, reading: ‘Future Mrs. Robertson'

Mary-Kate held up her left hand to show off her new bling, with a giant smile on her face.

She Instagrammed a black and white version of the image, with the caption: ‘Happy Birthday to the boy I'm going to marry.’

Rebecca Robertson, Willie and Korie’s adopted foster daughter, shared a snap with the newly engaged couple, writing: ‘She said YES @missmarymcmcmc so excited to be your sister’

They appeared to be at a joint birthday and engagement celebration, as John Luke’s cousin Reed Robertson tweeted on Saturday night: ‘Coolest engagement/birthday party ever.’

The couple looked classy for their special night, with John Luke in dark trousers with a white-button up and suspenders and Mary Kate in a navy blue and white frock.

John Luke is the eldest son of Korie and Willie Robertson - who is CEO of Duck Commander - the successful company founded by family patriarch Phil Robertson which is explored on the Duck Dynasty show.
