Writer Robert Kirkman was forced to go on the record to confirm the recent events of the show are in fact real

 The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has confirmed that the events of the show are indeed happening in real life – or as real as they can get for the post-apocalyptic show.

 

Kirkman was forced to go on the record to confirm that lead character Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, has woken up from his coma from the pilot episode.
Recent events have led fans to speculate whether Grimes had remained in his coma and the events of The Walking Dead were in fact a dream.

In an article on Uproxx, Dustin Rowles wrote: “What if Rick Grimes never woke up from his coma in The Walking Dead pilot and the entire series is a dream?...If you think the zombie apocalypse is bad, imagine what The Walking Dead viewers would do if, after 12 seasons of the series, Kirman ended it on that note.”
 The article, entitled “Robert Kirkman Needs To Go On The Record Promising The Walking Dead Won’t End As Rick Grimes’ Coma Dream”, forced the comic book writer to confirm the events on the TV series “are definitely happening”.
 “Going on record to answer this…Rick is NOT still in a coma. The events of TWD are definitely happening,” he said.
